The work continues

PHASE 1 WORK

The internal Blockwork walls are flying up with a gang of 4 Bricklayers on site we have been struggling to keep them supplied with Blocks.

They worked Bank Holiday and will work today (Saturday), as at last night (Friday) all the internal rooms to Phase 1 were set out and they had some walls completed up to the underside of the roof steel.

With approximately 80% of the internal walls completed we are struggling for light as we box it in and temporary lights will be fixed next week

Its great progress to see the new changing rooms and referee rooms growing on site and you can now see the shape and size of the facilities we will have

PHASE 2 WORK

The volunteer demolition team have progressed really well this week.

We have followed the good work of Easter week with more bashing and knocking and took out old changing rooms 1, 2 and the Refs room and Corridors.

It was a strange feeling to watch the First team changing rooms knocked down, they hold such great memories for those who were honoured enough to represent our club at First Team level.

The easy job is the knocking down the real graft comes as we have to segregate the material into Brick and block for crushing, Plasterboard for special disposal, material that can be burnt, and wood that we are cleaning and de-nailing for reuse.

So far we have saved many 10’s of metres of battens and bearers plus large section timbers we can use for Ceiling Joists in the new Building – saving us money.

The photos (see links below) show all that remains of the changing rooms we have demolished.

Anyone who wants to take some timber for wood burning stoves or home fires please contact David Pick and for a sensible donation to the funds you can have some wood.

You will have to sort and remove.

As at close of work Friday 21st April we are on programme with the demolition.

After 8 days we have 8 rooms down to floor level (Changing rooms 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 plus the corridors and Refs room.

The photos show where the First Team changing room was (where the empty barrow is), the club electrics for the old building which we will protect and build phase 2 around and the rooms at the back Changing rooms 2, 7 and 8, You can now start to see the shape and size of Phase 2.

We have Changing room 3, the old Committee / office and the showers to demolish next week.

Those that have been helping well done and thank you, hope to see you next week PLUS MORE VOLUNTEERS PLEASE

We hand over to CFC week commencing 1st May

David
