Following the tremendous news last week of our success with the Sport England funding, we have today progressed the main project enabling works by starting the demolition of the Groundsman’s hut.
The existing Groundsman’s hut building falls within the footprint of the new Changing room block (project Phase 1) and so it is being carefully taken down (helped by Stuart Birch with his sledge hammer).
We have formed a water proof enclosure to protect the floodlight controls which will remain during phase 1.
The building will be re-erected later to provide much needed storage – location to be decided
In the main clubhouse, again as part of the enabling works, we have already demolished the Physio room and storage cupboards and re-sited these, along with the cleaning store to Changing room 8.
A new door has been cut connecting the rear corridor near changing room 8 to changing rooms 2 and 3, this will be the new fire escape as the existing rear fire escape is removed in phase 1.
We have also started today to remove the floor to the rear corner of the building (old Physio room) as this forms the boiler plant room for phase 1.
