Congratulations to James Tomlinson who has been appointed the club's new head coach for the girls section for the 2019-20 season.
James takes over from Mark Dobb who has played such a significant part in establishing the section and achieving amazing results over the past few years.
Mark, who will be coaching the under-15 girls next season, decided to stand down as head coach a few months ago and club officials set about recruiting for the 2019-20 season.
James, who has been the coach of the under-13 girls group at the club for the past two years, joined Newark from London Scottish where he had spent three years as the lead coach for the 11-16 youth section.
Mark Staines, club director for the girls/women's section, commented: “I am delighted to be able to announce James in the role.
“I know all club officials and members will be keen to help him develop the section further over the next few years.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mark for his terrific contribution.
“Mark and I commenced our journey together with the girls section back in 2013.
“Starting off with 3 or 4 girls, we grew the section to 3 squads and he has continued to develop the section into one which was able to win the national under-15 title in 2016.
“If that was not enough he then progressed the same group to be national finalists last season at under-18 level. A remarkable sequence of results.
“Mark and wife Clare, who is also stepping down at the end of the season, have been central figures in the development of girls’ rugby at Newark and deserve a big thank you from the whole membership.”
"Although Mark is stepping down as Head coach he will still be heavily involved in the section as he will be coaching the under 15 girls."
The Newark girls section trains on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm and play on Sunday afternoons.
New players always welcome.
