Good luck next season

Congratulations to former mini and youth player Jonny Law on his breakthrough season culminating in his first cap for England under-19s, a senior first team debut for Leicester Tigers and a professional contract.

Jonny, who went to school at King’s in Grantham, joined Newark’s mini section when aged nine.

He was part of a successful squad that won the Notts, Lincs and Derbys Cup three years in succession and joined the Leicester Tigers Developing Player Programme when he was 13.

He progressed through the DPP, representing Notts, Lincs and Derbys when 16, and in the same year made his debut for the Tigers Academy side.

Taken on by the Tigers he was awarded a scholarship to Rugby School and joins Leicester Tigers full time for next season.

The Tigers Academy team have won back-to-back titles, with Jonny playing a pivotal role in the team, and he was rewarded with a promotion to the Development squad and he subsequently made his debut for the first team off the bench in front of 14,000 at Franklin’s Gardens against Northampton Saints in the Premiership Cup in January 2019.

Impressed with his performances for Tigers, England’s U18-20 Head Coach Jim Mallinder invited Jonny to two England Development camps and awarded him his first England cap for the U19 team against Wales at the beginning of April 2019. In a winning team Jonny scored on his debut in the game at Bridgend.

Good luck next season from all at Kelham Road.
