The two Clubs have a long and proud history, so it was a privilege to see Alan Staines, Guy Beale and Martin Brummitt, join Newark old-boy Andy Rush and Newark old-old boy Ken Beaumont for the ' Presidents Day' event at Hykeham's Memorial Fields ground. The Newark representatives featured in a traditional President's XV, alongside players from Gainsborough, Boston & Skegness. The Presidents XV ran-out 24-14 winners in a thrilling and competitive game against Hykeham's 1st XV, to regain the 'Hairy Thomas Memorial Salver'.

A throbbing '6 Nations' clubhouse and banquet buffet greeted the guests post match, as part of the celebrations, which saw North Hykeham presented with 'RFU Accredited Club' status by NLD Chairman, David Chamberlain.
