You too can help

Several Club members have asked me recently how the funding for the New Clubhouse is going, so I thought it might be helpful to summarise the position.

The estimated cost of Phase 3- the final Phase- is approx. £460,000 including VAT.

Currently we believe that we have approx. £350,000 pretty well assured. This comprises external grants from Tarmac and the RFU and Club fund raising efforts, such as our highly successful ‘Raise the Bar’ loan scheme.

You will see, therefore, that we still require approx. a further £110,000.

To meet this shortfall, the Club is actively pursuing a number of potential funding opportunities, both from within our Club and from external bodies.

Over the past 6 weeks we have made 5 applications for funding from such organisations as Notts County Council, the Peter Harrison Foundation and the J M Derbyshire Trust.

Success, of course, is never guaranteed as typically only one in five applications is successful.
However, I am hopeful that a good proportion of the shortfall will be met by one or two winning applications.

You too can help ‘bridge the gap’ by supporting one or more of the ongoing Club fund-raising initiatives:

• Our ‘Raise the Bar’ loan scheme is still open for those with a few £££s in the bank earning nothing- full details are on our web site. (http://bit.ly/2wYxxTG)

• Our DonateaBrick scheme will be closing shortly- so if you want your name on a brick in our new foyer, either apply at the bar or visit our web site. (http://bit.ly/2H3L8LC)

• Come along to the Brian Fisher memorial match on Mar 24th when an International XV will be playing the RAF Vulcans. This will be a great occasion and should raise a lot of money towards completing the Clubhouse.

• Please complete the RFU survey at the link below on the assumption that the Clubhouse will be complete in September. To be eligible for the RFU grant, this very short survey needs to be completed. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/6ZN3JZZ

I am very hopeful that a combination of our external and internal efforts will raise the necessary £110,000.

However, if this is not the case, the Club has been successful is securing a contingency interest free loan to meet any shortfall.
This means that we are able to go ahead with the building of Phase 3 this Summer, as originally planned.

As always, please contact me if you like any further detailed information.
