24th annual Rugby Club Golf Day

A good day was had at the 24th annual Rugby Club Golf Day on Friday at Ping Gainsborough. 29 teams fought it out on a good day for golf.

The winners pictured above are Steve Phillips and his Santander team with Stuart Prime, Tim Clarke and Rob Darby with 83 points.

Second was Pete Merrick and his team on their debut with 81 points, third Wayne Collier and his team, fourth young club stalwart Martin Brummitt and colleagues with 79 points and fifth Paul Connelly ((who also won Beat the Pro).

Nearest the pin competitions were won by Mike Bossart, John Clark and Steve (Stretch) Armstrong and the longest drive of around 280 yards (uphill) was won by David Hayle.

Many thanks to Rachel Darcy and Dickie Marshall who helped organise the day and obtain sponsorship on every hole and to Jean Lawrence who managed registration, caddied for Lord Coles and sold a lot of raffle tickets.
Charles Hine won the two tickets to Australia v England at Twickenham.
