We are a large and popular age group and aim to provide an opportunity for all to take part in and enjoy the game of rugby irrespective of ability. At Newark RUFC we provide excellent coaching through our highly qualified coaching team (we are blessed with 10 coaches within our age group). All our coaches oversee player development and are directed by the team's Head Coach (Adam Ward) providing structure & support.
After successfully making the transition from touch rugby to full contact tackling last season, the squad are learning new skills and techniques including the “Tower of Power” which forms the basis for the correct body position for uncontested scums, rucks and mauls.
Players are given the opportunity to continually develop their fitness levels through game based rugby activities whilst always having fun in a safe environment. All registered players get the opportunity to represent the club playing regularly for the age group against local clubs.
Of course rugby tours are a must as touring is a great tradition in any Rugby club, let alone Newark!!! Last season, along with 3 other age groups from our minis section, we enjoyed our 2nd touring experience at Holt in Norfolk. It was a great opportunity to play rugby, do exciting outdoor activities and have great fun. This 2016/17 season we are delighted that our entire Minis section will be touring together to North Yorkshire. We start the touring ethos in the Minis which transcends Junior and Youth and develops into senior rugby. Rugby is arguably the most social sport in the world and a ‘rugby tour’ provides a great opportunity to bond with your teammates and have a “good laugh”.
Newark prides itself on being a family orientated club, it offers a great social life with many events being run throughout the year which we hope you would become involved with, keep an eye on the news and events pages for details.
We are always looking to welcome new members to join our successful club so if you are a keen player in school year 5 (Sept 2016), parent/guardian, coach, spectator with skills that can take our club further and are interested in becoming involved at Newark Rugby club either for the first time or you have moved into the area please contact Lorna Swain (our fantastic Age Group Coordinator, AGC) who as always will be more than happy to assist you.
