Newark A 24 Moderns XV 19
Tries in the second half by Harry Pick and Buddha Waqalevu brought a Newark XV victory in this competitive friendly at Kelham Road on Saturday.
Moderns turned round 12-10 up but Newark stormed back to lead before the visitors grabbed a late consolation to close the margin of victory.
Newark’s first-half try had come from Jamie Eveleigh who converted and also kicked a penalty.
Eveleigh converted both tries in the second half to reward an experimental line up, including new and old names.
The starting line up featured Richard Byrom at full-back and Duncan Coote at prop while on the bench there was another Kelham Road favourite in Matt Cove.
