A new campaign started at Kelham Road in the form of a squad match between two teams from the senior ranks on Saturday.
It proved to be an entertaining afternoon in which the Yellows – led by captain Will Britten – outran the Blues, 38-21 by six tries to three.
The Blues sped into a 14-0 lead only to be pulled back by half-time. In the second half, the Yellows finally got on top in the last quarter when they scored three tries to finish winners.
Lots of positives from the afternoon included two enthusiastic squads, some good tries and plenty of effort.
Scorers – Yellows, tries: Tarbatt, pen try, Britten, Partridge, Nathan Leeson, Ellison. Cons: Tarbatt (4).
Blues, tries: Charles, Gilder (2). Conversions: Ralph Leeson, Charles, Overland.
