A much-changed team included Jed Chapple starting his first second team game at hooker alongside props Devan Priestley and Darren Gray. The pack also had fit-again Dave Garland at No 8. With Jacob Andrews at scrum-half for the firsts, the versatile Gareth Bartsch started at scrum-half.
The game started at a fierce pace and Newark soon led through some powerful running from the forwards for Garland to score his first try of four in the afternoon. Tommy Bridges settled into the fly half position and ran the play linking up with Mark Staines to keep the score line ticking over.
Tries from Max Spur, Nick Galinski, James Stark and another by Staines and Garland meant Newark where well on top but a slip in concentration let Spalding score before the break.
A good second half show lead by Bridges scoring two tries himself and another couple for Garland, Rhys Overland scored five conversions and there was also another score for Galinski and Spur meant Newark won comfortably 77-5 to round off an impressive attacking afternoon.
Scorers, tries: Garland (4), Staines (2), Galinski (2), Spur (2), Bridges (2), Stark.
