2nds Back in Action!

The rugby club currently finds itself stretched at senior level and would love to see a turn of fortunes with the injury and unavailable list.

The seconds had lost captain Alex Jackson to illness, Richard Primett injury, Mark Miller dental issues, with Nick Codd unavailable and the under 18's having a fixture on Sunday, players were limited.

Matt Cove took on the armband and Newark played against the wind first half.

After a tough first half Newark found themselves 10 - 0 down and felt that they were in contention to get back in the game in the second period. Unfortunately it was a 20 minute period in the second half that let the side down and late trys, 2 from Reece Hodnett and 1 from Craig Hawes with 2 conversions from Rhys Overland were only a consolation in this fixture.

I'd like to thank Josh Jay who sorted out bottles and balls and Gareth Bartsch who organised the team in my absence and Paddy Robinson who benched, sorted water bottles, ran the touchline and then played.

Finally I'd like to welcome Simon Glass back to the second team and as of next week he will be taking on the managerial role and hopefully add a bit of stability after a difficult period for the second team.
