Market Rasen 2nds 31 Newark 2nds 15
Newark put up a spirited display at Rasen and only fell away in the closing stages against bigger opposition.
Hindered by a first-half injury up front and a sin-binning, Newark turned round 12-8 down and gained pressure early in the second half to cut that margin.
Newark's tries came from wing James Harding who scooted onto a pass from full-back Josh Clack in the first half following two tries from Rasen.
Harding took his second try very nimbly late on but by then Rasen had the match won.
Newark fielded a mostly young team backed up by a few first teamers and former captain Nick Codd.
Squad: Hunter-Shaw, Overland, Birch, Moore, Harding, Scott, Max Chapple; Himsworth, Godfrey, Pindar, Shine, Bagga, Crosby, Mattysz,
Subs Boyd. Jordan Slack, Clack, Codd, Lieber.
Tries: Harding (2).
Con: Scott. Pen: Scott.
