As the Loughborough Team retired to their own half following their second try their Captain was heard to say, "Come on, we'll put 50 on these!". Unfortunatelly for them Matt Woolridge had his kicking boots on,(13 points) Robin Burton Waring was on top form (2 tries), Reece Hodnet, playing in his prefered position in the back row, was irrepressable. It took a very strange decision from the Referee to take him out of the game with a yellow card; it was so strange that the Loughborough Manager was confounded and stated, without prompting, that Hodnett had not transgressed in any way! However Newark had sealed their victory by this time, Cove and Robinson were also try scorers and the final score, 35 points to 12, did justice to the hard work put in by Newark but was a little flattering considering the slow start and that 2 tries came from interceptions. Nevertheless, Newark's eight proved their superiority once they got to grips with the game and Rhys Overland at scrum half, showed some enterprising promise with some strong weaving runs that took Newark into good attacking positions and made their 9 look very poor.
Newark travel to Notts medics next week, no doubt with a changed team yet again but the whole squad can take heart through the turn-around achieved today as all squad players have a point to prove by ensuring we become the most difficult team to beat in the League.
