Team of, Tinsley, Gillatt, AJ, Price D, Witton, Fotheringham, Chapel, Cove M, Dyson, Brummitt, Stark, O’Leary, Taylor, Edlin, Byrom R( replaced by Hunter Shaw after 35 mins), faced a very strong looking Nottingham Medics side.
In comparison to the beginning of the season Newark’s 1sts and 2nds Squad have lost 18 first choice players through injury or other forced unavailability.
Early on things looked dire for Newark, the greatly depleted side were struggling to contain their fitter, younger, bigger, opponents and only luck, and strong defence from Hunter Shaw and James Stark prevented the Medics from completing an embarrassing win against the home side. For 60 minutes of the game it looked as if Newark would finish second as the Medics ran the ball freely and at times, too easily. It was not until the last 20 that Newark’s midfield managed to plug the gaps and enterprising running and forward pressure delivered the winning try, under the posts, for Brummitt to add an easy 2 points to finish the game 21points to17. The home side claiming a hard fought victory. Newark try scorers, Edlin, Fothringham, AJ. Conversions: Brummitt (3). Medics 3 tries 1 conversion.
