Newark II's after a disappointing defeat to Wellingborough made some wholesale changes to the squad; the pack saw the return of M Staines as Captian, J Henphry, M Cove, F Tatham and W Naylor and in the backs B Loftus and R Overland.
Newark pack were rewarded for their early domination by a try from M Cove. The game was then controlled by a stronger fitter Newark pack, unfortunately a series of poor errors handed the half time lead to an undeserving visiting side.
The second half again had Newark dominating play and an excellent break by B Loftus from his own half was finished off by the 'poacher' G Bartsch. The poacher was also on hand minutes later to score his second try and forth of the season.
The home side were again in control, however, a series of unforced errors allowed Northamptonians back into the game. B Ennals then evened the game up with an excellent blind side dash to score in the corner.
The away side took victory after poor defending, gifted their impressive backs to run the length of the field to score a converted try
