MANSFIELD 18 - NEWARK 10
Newark went into this local fixture with again having to make some last minute changes.
The first half witnessed some poor discipline rewarding Mansfield with an early 6 - 0 advantage. Newark then gifted the home side with two soft tries after some weak defensive play, going in 18 - 3 down at the interval.
The second half produced a much improved performance and despite some forced changes through injury bringing on, Holmes, MacKinnon and Overland senior, Newark rallied to reduce the deficit to 18 -10.
Rhys Overland scored an opportunist try and completed the rest of the scoring with his boot.
Newark will have to produce a more consistent performance if they are to overturn this defeat in the Ron Rossin semi final match against Mansfield at Home, date to be confirmed.
