Paddys Day, Early !!
Sat 10th March 2012.
Newark 3rds 57 v Kesteven 2nds 19.
This Pennant game may go down in Newarks history.!!!!
"Paddy Robinson", inside Centre, scored 6 tries , SIX in one game.
He did nothing special, just ran them in. !!
Kesteven warmed up well on the usual 3rd team pitch, good routine, big lads.
Newark with regular half backs of Jonno Marshall 9, & Rhys Overland, comfortable and enjoying, the 10 spot.
The 3rds opted to play Kesteven 2nds, on the Fifth Team pitch, over near the roundabout, town centre to some, & produced a result.
Brilliant that Newark Club could accomodate 4 home games, a first on a saturday this season, albeit the dressing rooms were full. !!
The score was 5-5, five all after twenty minutes.
Ben Combes & Jonno Marshall then added tries to the hatrick already scored by Paddy, halftime arriving at 33-5.
With the Ref allowing open play, superb surface, the fifth team pitch can expect more games to played.
Kesteven wing/fulback Darren Blackley ex Newark, kicked out of his 22, straight down Paddys throat for him to reply with a superb punt, catch, go on & score.
Good line-out work with newcomer Phil Scott, jumping at 2, Joe Tinsley still working at his throwing in !!
Devan Preistly (17 years old) impressed at 8. !!
Dick White & Kesteven No 10 yellowed with 12 mins to go, both were aggreived with Refs decision. !!
Kesteven could not contain open play.
9 tries to 3.!
A good clubhouse full, Six Nations on the Tele after the game.
More of the same please, Well played Newark 3rds, good team effort. !!
