But he will be continuing to play

Second team captain Ben Wells has decided to step down.

Over six years, Ben has had spells as captain of the 4ths, 3rds and since 2018 of the 2nds.

Ben said the highlight was winning the second team Pennant in 2020 and fulfilling all fixtures in the 2019/20 season after a tough previous campaign. "I’m also very proud of the number of players from the 2nds that have made their 1st Team debuts.”

Richard Byrom, the second team manager, said: “Ben’s done an amazing job for the club over the last 6 or 7 years. His leadership on and off the pitch has been invaluable during some very challenging times. Thank you for all your hard work and effort in making sure that we turn out the best possible side for every game.”

Tim Barker, the club's director of rugby, said: "Ben has been a pleasure to work with over the last 3 years and it’s difficult to overstate the effort he's put into this role. I would like to add my personal thanks and those of the Board. Ben will be continuing to play which is great news."
