Newark RUFC Board Update

Note to all members and supporters

The club remains closed and we are urging all members and supporters to follow the public health guidelines.

The Board has met on a weekly basis since the start of the crisis and will meet again immediately after Easter.

It has put in hand arrangements that ensure that essential maintenance and cleaning is undertaken in the clubhouse and surrounds.

Like most amateur sports clubs the present lockdown has presented particular funding and cashflow issues which the board is addressing.

We are taking full advantage of the government-backed schemes and the club has received a £25k grant from Newark & Sherwood District Council which has been distributed to the retail, hospitality and leisure sector.

This will alleviate immediate problems but the club will continue to investigate other sources of help including those supported by the RFU.

Newark & Tuxford Foodbank

A very worthwhile charity to support during this crisis is the Newark and Tuxford Food Bank. Please read more.

‘Newark Foodbank has been a part of the support network in the town since 2012. In 2017 it also took on responsibility for Tuxford Foodbank and since then we have operated together. In that time it has distributed over 150 tonnes of food and provided food to over 12,000 people in need throughout the town and surrounding villages. Over the last year alone the Foodbank has served over 2,400 clients providing them with 21,600 meals’

Details on how to donate are on the website link below.

As a further safety net for everyone, the Buddy Club is in place if anyone needs help.

Many of us may well have to place ourselves and our loved ones in isolation to overcome this virus and may well need help in some everyday tasks – like shopping, collecting medicines or parcels, walking the dog! Or just a friendly chat on the phone.

If you need help please email buddyup@newarkrugby.com and we will get help to you.
