With most local courses, at the best, waterlogged Blankney proved a good choice for the Golf Society’s February golf day.
The Lincoln Heath can always prove a trifle breezy at this time of the year but Storm Dennis wasn’t the menace forecast and the large field of 32 intrepid golfers enjoyed a course in surprisingly good condition, as reflected by the leading scores.
The President’s Plate is the golf society’s oldest trophy and is traditionally played for as a pairs competition at the Match Committee’s discretion.
This year being Joint Score Stableford.
A format requiring both players to perform to their full potential.
So all credit to the octogenarian senior pairing of Bill Russell and his partner, young Josh White, who stormed home with an impressive 63 pts.
Closely followed by a veritable Colts pairing of Andrew Fearn & Richard Brighton with 62 pts.
