It’s time to Buddy Up

From the Club Board

Just a brief note on the situation at Kelham Road

The club is closed for all matches, training and events until further notice.

We realise this is hugely disappointing to all our supporters and 500 or so players from minis to veterans.

However, we must follow all advice from the Government and RFU in order to play our part in beating this virus which is spreading world-wide.

The latest information can be found at the links below both national and local.

The RFU have today (Friday) decided to finish the 2019-20 season early.

More details about promotion and relegation, start date and next season will be finalised in the coming weeks.

However, it’s time to play our part in beating this virus.

Please follow all public health guidelines.

One of the great strengths of our club, like all sports clubs, is the way we come together to support each other in times of trouble.

Please keep in touch with each other – try to make it a daily task to ring a fellow rugby mate and to check on your neighbours and friends.

As a further safety net for everyone, we are establishing a Buddy Club in the event anyone needs help in the coming weeks.

Many of us may well have to place ourselves and our loved ones in isolation to overcome this virus and may well need help in some everyday tasks – like shopping, collecting medicines or parcels, walking the dog! Or just a friendly chat on the phone.

We’ve established a special email
buddyup@newarkrugby.com

for anyone who would like some help or who wants to join our team of buddies.

We intend to establish a special hotline in the next week. Please watch out for more details.

If you feel you need some help or are able to help over the coming weeks please get in touch via this email address or contact one of the ‘buddies’ direct.

They are Rob Wildman (co-ordinator), Andrew Fearn, David Godfrey, David Duddles, Alan Staines, Adam Doran, Tim Barker, Matt Cove, Richard Staniforth and Nick Poulson.

We need more members to step up but please think about your own circumstances and health first.

Finally, stay safe and let’s look forward to the first match back at Kelham Road.
We will be opening those gates as soon as it is possible.

We will keep all members fully informed over the coming weeks.
