Club members send their sympathy and love to the family of Betty Lawrence who died over the New Year holiday weekend.
Betty, aged 93, was one of the club’s oldest members and a keen supporter over many years.
She was the mother of John Lawrence, the club player who was left paralysed after he was injured in a match in 1988.
Despite the injuries, John remained a key volunteer and supporter up until he died in 2000. Betty and husband Alan, who predeceased her, showed indomitable spirit following the injury.
Betty, who worked at RHP and Hawtonville Hospital, kept in touch with many members and was a friend to all at Kelham Road.
She leaves Jean, her daughter-in-law, and a big family including 12 great grandchildren.
