Old rivals Southwell provide Centenary opposition
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH 2019
The club’s Centenary fixture to celebrate the 1919 formation will take place on Saturday 7 September at Kelham Road.
Southwell have agreed to a pre-season friendly after the original idea to play a team from Notts, Lincs & Derbys under-20s had to be dropped.
Newark will return the pre-season fixture against Southwell at the start of the 2020-21 campaign.
The two clubs do not clash this next season in the league following the relegation of Southwell to Midlands Three East North this May.
In the last three seasons, the first teams of the two clubs have served up some memorable games and this friendly should continue the rivalry.
Further events will be organised on Sept 7 to involve teams from all sections of the club, including a second XV match against Southwell.
Scunthorpe 2nds will provide the opposition on Saturday 24 August at Kelham Road followed by a trip to Lincoln for the first round of the Notts, Lincs & Derbys Cup on Saturday 31 August.
Newark start league matches on Saturday 14 September at newly-promoted Ashfield.
The first month of the season is finished by two home games; September 21 against Stewarts & Lloyds in the RFU Intermediate Cup and 28 September against Coalville in the league.

31 August – away to Lincoln, NLD Cup 1st rd, 3pm ko.
7 September – Centenary Match – Newark v Southwell, ko 3pm. Friendly. More details to come.
14 September – away to Ashfield, league, kick off 3pm.
21 September – home to Stewarts & Lloyds, RFU Intermediate Cup, kick off 3pm.
28 September – home to Coalville,, league, kick off 3pm.
