A real mixture of youth and experience

The thirds completed a successful Saturday for the senior times with a convincing win over our nearests rivals. With the Colts winning the previous evening, this was a deeply satisfying weekend for the club - and only one try conceded in those four games.

Speedster Calum Holmes, playing at scrum half , went over for a brace of tries and veteran Martin Towndrow, Matt Gibson and Neil McKenna also crossed the whitewash. .

There was a real mixture of youth and experience in this side (captained at late notice by Sam Booth) with 17-year-old Will Brooks also getting on the score sheet in what was his first senior appearance.

Which leaves either three conversions or two penalties to be credited to the kicker. Sad to say I don't know who that was but I do know that a combination of the weather and heavy pitch certainly made kicking duties very challenging.

It was also heartening to see many 2nd and 3rd team players - along with their opponents- creating a great vibe in the clubhouse after the games.
