Newark RUFC is continuing to take coaching sessions to schools throughout the district including at the Orchard School based in London Road, Balderton.

The school recently staged its own ‘World Cup’ Tag competition which was won by the French team!

Alan Staines, director of mini, youth and girls rugby at the club, explained:
“At its heart the club is a community club and in conjunction with local primary and secondary schools we want everyone to have the opportunity to play and enjoy rugby.

The aim is to give all players of all abilities the opportunity to build confidence, resilience and skills in order to fulfil their full potential and, at the same time, help mental well-being as well.”

Ben Ennals, the programme’s community coach, added:
“I’m really excited to be working with pupils at the Orchard School for the second year running. I’ve loved introducing Tag rugby to the pupils and we have lots of fun along the way.”

Tag rugby is a non-contact form of the game so children and young people of all abilities can learn the basics of rugby.

The recent sessions at the Orchard School continue a successful spring term where 170 pupils in 17 teams attended a Festival at the club to complete the sessions.

The club wishes to thank all the teachers, coaches, parents and supporters for helping out in making the sessions so popular.
