Although this year’s event had to be pruned in size to meet the Covid restrictions the annual Hugh Daybell Charity Golf Day recently held at Newark GC was much enjoyed by all, and raised over £1800 for The Brain Cancer Trust in memory of Hugh and Michael Rimmer.

Despite the strict social distancing the eighteen pairs were able to start their day with the now customary coffee & bacon bap before doing battle for the Andrew Fearn Trophy and other prizes, afterwards reconvening in the bar to boast of the good shots played or gloss over the other variety.
So just like old times in that respect.

Following the presentation of prizes by Golf Society President for Life, Dicky Marshall, assisted by Hugh’s son Sam Daybell, Charles Hine conducted an auction in his inimitable style.
The lively bidding raised no less than £675 towards the cause. Star lot @ £120 being a round of golf for two as guests of Andrew Fearn & Nigel Carnall at the highly rated Nottingham GC. Hollinwell.

Finally, our thanks must go out to Newark Golf Club for their much appreciated input to the day and we look forward to our return on Wed 6th Oct. 2021 with the hope that circumstances will have returned to normal service.
