Last year, thanks to a generous grant from Newark & Sherwood District Council and Notts County Council, we planted 1,250 hedge whips in early Spring, courtesy of The Tuesday Team. Since then they’ve been under the watchful eye of Mr ‘Green Fingers’ Martin Gibbs
The recent heatwave has been quite unforgiving, which has meant that we have had to call in reinforcements!!
• Andrew ‘Farmer’ Clay lent us a water bowser,
• Malcolm ‘ex-Plod’ Davison drove it in,
Martin has now been able to give the hedges a well-earned drink from our borehole. Here’s hoping the weather breaks soon and lets nature take over the watering duties for a change.
Meanwhile, if you’ve been down to Kelham Road lately, you’ll have spotted Pitch 2 looking rather pleased with itself.
Pitch 1 & 2 are getting daily borehole irrigation, thanks to the efforts of Dan ‘Mr Grass’ Laird and his team — ably supported by Dickie ‘Can Do’ Marshall and Tom ‘occasional pyromaniac’ Pykett.
Picky.
