Newark Rugby Club was alive with energy yesterday afternoon as we hosted our Year 5/6 Mixed Tag Rugby Festival through our local schools programme. It was an incredible turnout, with 29 teams from 14 local primary schools taking part in an afternoon full of fun, skill, and teamwork.
Schools joining us were Coddington, Farndon, Winthorpe, John Hunt, Sir Donald Bailey, Collingham, Flintham, Elston, Christ Church, Swinderby, Muskham, Lovers’ Lane, Claypole, and Barnby Road.
The standard of play was fantastic throughout the day — it was brilliant to see so many pupils embracing the core values of the RFU: teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship.
A huge thank you goes out to all those who helped make the event such a success, including our referees from Newark Rugby Club’s age-grade teams, the sports leaders from Magnus Academy, and the girls from our U16s team, who did a superb job officiating and supporting the festival.
It was a brilliant afternoon celebrating rugby, friendship, and community spirit — a real showcase of what grassroots sport is all about.
If your child enjoyed the festival and wants to play more rugby, why not come along to Newark Rugby Club on a Sunday morning? The first three sessions are FREE!
