England debut 04-07-2021 v USA

This is the story of Joe told with pictures thanks to his father Darren
very kindly sending the snaps to the club website.

Joe made his England debut last Sunday (04-07-2021), against the USA,
and gained a second cap against Canada on Saturday (July 10).

Thus, he joins Dusty Hare as the only two players from the club so far to gain full senior caps.

John Wells also played for an England senior team, against Italy in 1986,
but that was deemed in those days as an uncapped international by the RFU
even though the Italians awarded caps to their players!

The photos tell the tale of Joe's career path from youth days at Newark
via the Leicester academy into the England age group teams.

Along the way, he also played for Moderns
and had a spell as a goalkeeper at the Nottingham Forest academy system
before turning to rugby.
He's also appeared as a 'water boy' at the club when he helped his brother's youth team
in pre-pandemic times.

Congratulations Joe, from all at Kelham Road.

You are always welcome whenever you have time.
