George was among 19 RAF personnel killed in a road accident in Germany in 1985 when the coach they were travelling in collided with a fuel tanker. The collision triggered a huge explosion.

Over the years players from the RAF have regularly played for the club and it’s great to see the link continuing this weekend.

For the Newark squad this was the second pre-season friendly after victory last week at Peterborough.

Pre-season games continue next Thursday (August 29) when an inter-club trial is staged – Blues v Yellows – kick off 7.30pm. All welcome.

The 1st team start league games on Saturday 7 September, against Matlock, at Kelham Road, kick off 3pm.
The 2nds are away to Notts Casuals.
