Newark Rugby club held the second All Girls Tag Festival when over 100 players from nine local primary schools attended Kelham Road this week (27-02-2025).

The groups from Farndon, Coddington, Flintham, Winthorpe, Barnby Road, Elston, John Hunt, Claypole and Chuter Ede schools joined in round-robin matches over the afternoon in great weather.

Massive thanks to Richard Byrom, Newark Rugby Club’s Schools Development Manager for co-ordinating the Festival, supported by our Schools Rugby Coaches Ben Ennals and Jason Harrison plus club members Aaron Hart and Cheryl Williams who refereed.

The players enjoyed a deserved refreshing drink and hot dog in the clubhouse afterwards.

Alan Staines, the club’s director of community rugby, said:
“The girls had a lot of fun, rugby is the perfect game for strong, smart, and unstoppable girls!.

“We invite all girls to come down on a Thursday evening at 7pm to join in with our fantastic girls teams and give rugby a go.”
