This Sunday marks 107 years of Newark Rugby Union Football Club — 107 years of the game we enjoy so much.
In that time, the clubhouse has been moved, extended and rebuilt, the pitches repaired and relaid more times than anyone can count. But some things haven’t changed at all: the thousands of matches played, the friendships forged in the mud and mess of a Saturday afternoon and Sunday mornings and the stories that get told (and retold, and exaggerated) every single week in the clubhouse afterwards.
From the players who turned out in the very earliest years, to the coaches, volunteers, committee members, sponsors, parents, and supporters who’ve kept the club going through it all — thank you. Every single person who’s pulled on a Newark shirt, run the line, poured a pint behind the bar, or simply turned up to cheer has been part of building something that’s now well over a century old.
Here’s to the next chapter — and to everyone, past and present, who have helped Newark RUFC grow.
Thank you.
