NLD win Midlands Under-20 Championship
Wednesday March 10, 2010
NOTTS, Lincs & Derbyshire won the Midlands group of the National Under-20 Championship with a 32-0 win over East Midlands at Kesteven RFC near Grantham this evening.
NLD, who won Midlands Group B, will now have home advantage against the runners-up in the North group in the national quarter-finals while East Midlands face a trip to the North winners on March 27.
Once again the platform for NLD's third consecutive win in the competition was laid by their powerful pack but victory was sealed by a hat-trick of tries from winger Ryan Hough of Mansfield.
Hough's club-mate Joe Simcox scored the other two tries from scrum-half with the Derby pair of Nathan Burton and Ed Worthington kicking the remaining points.
