Message from President John Coles on the club's 100th birthday…

It’s a great honour to be president on the day the club is 100 years old.

This Friday (26 July) is a special day for a special club.

I just wanted to say thank you to all members, supporters and sponsors.

It has been my good fortune to have been a member for around half of the 100 years!

Thus, I have known many of the leading players, volunteers and staff who have made Newark RUFC.

Some very special characters, indeed, who worked heroically to put together the winning teams and to provide the facilities we enjoy at Kelham Road..

And, I know I can speak for them all when I say they will be very proud to know that Newark RUFC enters its second century in good shape and heart.

In the past few years, we have developed the facilities fully which allows over 400 players each week to play rugby from under-6s to veterans.

In the last 12 months, our teams have won competitions at all levels.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you tonight at the Centenary Dinner and I look forward to watching all the teams back in action from late August onwards.

Please make a note of the Centenary Match on Saturday 7 September when old rivals Southwell visit Kelham Road for a ‘friendly’ match. More details to come about the activities on that day.
