Newark Rugby Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Shaun Turl as Head Coach of our Women’s Section — a hugely exciting development as the club continues its ambitious drive to grow and strengthen the Women’s and Girls’ game.

A Coach with Pedigree

Shaun brings with him an outstanding track record spanning 12 years of dedicated women’s rugby coaching. He began his coaching journey with Anglia Ruskin University Women, before going on to spend eight remarkable years at Boston Ladies, where he built a wealth of experience, relationships, and memories that have shaped him into the coach he is today.

Shaun himself reflects on his journey with characteristic warmth:

“I’ve been coaching women’s rugby for 12 years, starting in Anglia Ruskin University Women, but most recently at Boston Ladies with whom I have eight years of amazing memories. I am so proud to have been selected as Newark Women’s new coach.”

A Vision for the Season Ahead

Shaun arrives at Kelham Road with a clear and inspiring vision. He is eager to build upon the solid foundations already laid by the Women’s Section and to harness the growing support that exists for Women’s and Girls’ rugby across the whole club. In his own words:

“I aim to help develop the squad, furthering the fabulous start that has been achieved, harnessing the evident wider club support for the Women and Girls Section and build upon the solid foundation that is already in place. I want to help these amazing women realise their obvious potential and achieve all their ambitions in this fantastic sport, establishing Newark Rugby Club as a force within Women’s, and Girls’, game.”

Pre-Season Starts Now — Come and Join Us!

Pre-season training under Shaun gets underway on Tuesday 7th July, 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Whether you’re an experienced player or have always wanted to give rugby a go, this is the perfect opportunity to be part of something special from day one.

All women and girls are warmly welcome. Come down to Kelham Road, introduce yourself to Shaun and the squad, and take that first step in what promises to be a hugely exciting chapter for Women’s rugby at Newark.
