With nine Newark girl's in the squad to face North Midlands a good crowd from Newark ascended on Five Ways Old Edwardians RFC, Ash Lane, Birmingham for what was expected to be a tough game. The game started at a fast pace and NLD pushed for an early score but after spending 10 minutes in the oppositions 22 it was North Mids who scored first with a ran in from 90 meters 5-0. NLD regrouped and from winning a North Mids scrum, against the head, the ball worked its way down the line to Sophie Hill (Newark) to score, a good attempt at the conversion by Jess Weaver (Newark) narrowly missed 5-5. from the kick off NLD attacked again and a typical forward run by Alexandra Clack (Newark) put them in a good position to score but good tackling from North Mids kept the score the same. It was a great run from Megan Warsop, Captain (Ashfield) which broke the deadlock just before half time 5-10. In the second half the NLD girls pressed hard but another long looping run from the North Mids centre and missed tackles saw her run clear to level the score early in the second half 10-10. From the restart NLD pressed and a crunching Tackle from Georgia Staines (Newark) made the North Mids flyhalf knock on and from the resulting scrum Jess Weaver (Newark) went down the blind side to score 10-15. The North Mids girls looked dejected and with the finish insight the NLD girls played there best rugby with great strong running from all, another score was immanent. Great support running from Jess Weaver saw the ball go from one side to the other and it was Jess who popped up on the wing to score another try 10-20. NLD pressed to the final whistle and should of had another try right at the death but the referee deemed the ball to been knocked on over the line. Another strong performance by all the NLD girls meant that they have now played 6 and won 6.
