Newark RUFC AGM 2026: A Huge Thank You, and a New Era Begins

Newark - ADMIN ONLY RUFC - WEB SITE15 Jul - 08:20

Please take the time to review the reports and the presentation deck.

On Monday evening, members gathered for our 108th Annual General Meeting — a comprehensive look back at the season and the start of an exciting new chapter for Newark RUFC.

Business of the Meeting

Chairman David Godfrey opened the formal meeting, and members approved the minutes of the 107th AGM. The Directors Reports — covering Communications, Sponsorship & Commercial, Finance, Facilities, Health & Safety, and every Rugby section from Minis through to Senior Men's and Women's — were adopted, along with the statutory accounts. Our accountants were reappointed for the year ahead.

Members also voted through an ordinary motion to raise subscriptions by 3% for the coming season.

Board Elections

We are pleased to confirm the following results from the elections:

President: David Pick

Directors: Mathew Cove, Tim Barker, Alan Staines, Vince Corley, David Pick and two new additions to the Board — Ruth Marshall and Will Syme-Nicholson.

Vice Presidents: - Richard Gelsthorpe and David Hayle.

Honorary Life Member: Tim Barker

The chairman congratulated David and every one of our new and returning Directors, VPs, and our new Honorary Life Member and thanked all the entire Board, Employees and Volunteers for their service to the club.

In addition, the Chairman shared a huge, heartfelt thank you to **Andrew Fearn**, who steps down after two outstanding years as President. Andrew's dedication and leadership have left a lasting mark on Newark RUFC, and we're enormously grateful for everything he's given the club.

Once formal business was closed, a number of Directors shared a presentation covering the prior year — from pitch and facilities projects to commercial performance, safety milestones, and plans across every Rugby section for 2026/27 — Questions were also taken from the floor.

If you weren't able to join us, we would encourage every member to review the full AGM deck. [cLICK "HERE" TO VIEW] It's a great snapshot of just how much has gone on behind the scenes this year, and we're always happy to answer any further questions.

Fittingly, our new President kept up a long-standing Newark tradition, buying a drink for everyone in the room as his tenure got underway — a lovely way to start his time in the role.

Thank you to everyone who came along, and to the huge team of volunteers whose hours of work sit behind everything that we do.

Here's to a great 2026/27 season.
