Newark Rugby Club & Our Schools Programme

At Newark Rugby Club, we’re proud of our close ties with the local community — and at the heart of this is our ever-growing partnership with local schools, from Primary through to Secondary.

This year, we’ve expanded the programme to reach more pupils across more schools, with a series of exciting competition days already planned for next year. These sessions not only introduce rugby but also bring to life its five core values: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, and Sportsmanship.

Through the programme, young people have the chance to:

• Build new skills and self-confidence
• Strengthen problem-solving abilities
• Improve health and wellbeing
• Experience the buzz of being part of a supportive team
• Explore our excellent facilities at Kelham Road

To build on this success, the club is also investing in a dedicated Schools Liaison role. This position will strengthen our relationships with schools, while also working closely with YouCanDoSport to develop a Further Education Rugby Academy.

Alongside this, we’re placing greater emphasis on forming partnerships with local universities, creating new pathways for young players to continue their rugby journey.

And this is only the beginning — we’ve got some exciting plans to leapfrog our Schools Programme forward, so watch this space for more news soon!

We warmly welcome parents, families, and supporters to come along, cheer the children on, and enjoy the refreshments provided on the day.

And who knows — we might just uncover the next Joe Heyes or Becky Boyd… which is exactly what we hope to do!
