The Women’s 1st XV had a tough but rewarding season, showing plenty of resilience, development and team spirit along the way. Playing in the NC2 league for the first time, they faced a challenging start while getting used to new combinations and coming up against more established sides. Early results didn’t always go their way, but the effort and determination from the Newark women really stood out, with a clear commitment to improving week by week.
As the season went on, their progress became obvious. Performances were more cohesive, confidence grew and the work put in during training started to pay off in matches.
A great example of this was when they faced the same teams again mid-season and managed to close the score gaps significantly, showing just how far they’d come.
Another big positive was the strong turnout at both training and on matchdays, which gave the team a solid base to build from. The integration of the Under 18s was also a real highlight, with younger players stepping up brilliantly, bringing energy and gaining valuable experience at senior level.
With a new Head Coach coming in next season, there’s a fresh sense of direction and optimism. The club is also looking to bring in new players to build on this year’s progress and strengthen the squad even further.
There’s real excitement about what’s ahead. Pre-season training starts on Tuesday 30th June giving everyone a chance to build fitness, sharpen skills and develop even better teamwork early on.
A big thank you to everyone involved; players, coaches, and supporters. The women’s section is growing in strength and has a bright future ahead.
