A change in the club’s board of directors has been made following the decision of Tom Cartledge to become the new chairman of Nottingham Forest Football Club.
Tom, a lifelong Forest supporter, was appointed this week and has decided to step down from his director’s role at Newark RUFC after two and half years.
Rugby club chairman John Clark said Tom had made a big contribution to the general running of Kelham Road, including taking on being commercial director.
John added: “Tom’s contribution has been immense. He has grown and developed sponsor relationships and brought many international rugby greats to entertain us at the club’s Legends Nights.
“His leadership and commitment to establish our first aid and wellbeing support structures is something the club will benefit from for many years to come.
“We are incredibly grateful for his insight, guidance and passion for Newark Rugby Club.
We know he will stay connected and help where he can. Best wishes go from everyone at the club.”
Tom, who is chief executive of Handley House, which incorporates Newark-based Benoy architects, said: “Supporting Newark RUFC has been a great privilege, we have made some great strides in the areas of health, wellbeing and, of course, had some great Legends Nights over my 2.5 years on the board.
“I am stepping away for a different sporting challenge as chairman of Nottingham Forest but I will be a regular visitor at Kelham Road.”
