A quick start propelled Newark seniors to another pre-season win this time over Matlock at Kelham Road.
The best part of 40 players had an opportunity in a match split into three periods. After an early Matlock score, Newark took over to dominate.
Tries came impressively from centres Toby Waller and Joe Doubell to put Newark in charge. Fly half Max Fairlie added a conversion.
Wing Henry Allen opened his try-scoring account for the campaign by racing in for the third before Doubell and Joshie Waqalevu put the hosts 31-5 up.
Matlock struck back in the third period to collect three more scores.
For the Newarkers, it was a second win of the pre-season following on from last week’s win over Stamford.
The league games start on Saturday week (26 September), where the 1sts host Syston 2nds and the 2nd XV travel to Market Rasen.
The successful colts squad, who beat Stamford opposition on Friday night, 42-12, are at home next Saturday (19 September) against Kestven alongside a 3rd XV fixture against Ashfield.
