Newark Rugby Club has been proud to deliver rugby coaching sessions at Newark Orchard School, a specialist school educating and caring for pupils aged from 3 to 18, throughout the summer term, introducing around 40 pupils to the game across four different classes.
During the first half term, sessions were delivered to secondary-age pupils, with the focus switching to primary-age children during the second half of the term. Throughout the programme, the children have taken part in tag rugby activities, skills sessions, drills, games and matches, all based around the RFU’s core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.
The enthusiasm and effort shown by every pupil has been fantastic, with all of the children making great progress while enjoying their rugby experience.
Newark Rugby Club's Coach Ben said:
“It has been a pleasure to work with the pupils at Newark Orchard School this summer. The children have been brilliant, showing great enthusiasm and embracing the RFU core values in every session. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and skills develop, and most importantly, to see how much they have enjoyed playing rugby.”
Newark Rugby Club would also like to thank all of the staff at Newark Orchard School for their support and encouragement throughout the term. Their help and enthusiasm have played a huge part in making the sessions such a success."
Each child who took part was also gifted a NRUFC branded sports bag, which some of the children are proudly holding in the photograph.
Everyone at Newark Rugby Club looks forward to building on this partnership and hopes to continue bringing rugby to the pupils of the school in the future.
