The process of appointing Honorary Life Members and Vice Presidents.

Two to three months before the next AGM, the Board will announce via the Website, Club Notice boards etc. that nominations for Honorary Life Member and Vice President Positions are due.

The announcement will state that nominations, with supporting information, should be sent to the David Godfrey (davidgodfrey51@hotmail.com ) in confidence by a suitable deadline (SEE ABOVE FOR THE DATE).

The announcement should also remind members of the following criteria:-

1. Honorary Life Members of the Club may be elected at the Annual General Meeting upon the recommendation of the Board. Nominated members must have been a Member of the Club for at least twenty-five years and have rendered exceptional service to the Club.

2. Vice-Presidents shall be elected from among Club members who have rendered exceptional services either to the Club and/or to Rugby Football in general.

Nominations for Honorary Life Member:

Upon the receipt of nominations for Honorary Life Membership, the Secretary will call a meeting of a Sub Committee chaired by the Club President with the Club Secretary and Director of Rugby and three current Honorary Life Members in attendance

The Subcommittee may invite the nominator to the Subcommittee meeting to provide further information if they so wish.

That subcommittee will consider the nominations and if it thinks fit make recommendations to the Board for their approval and proposal to the AGM.

Upon approval by the Board, the Club Secretary will contact the nominee(s) to seek their willingness to stand. It follows if the person is not willing to stand then the proposal to the AGM in respect of that person will not be made.

Nominations for Vice President.

Upon receipt of nominations for Vice President the Club Secretary shall form a subcommittee comprising the current Club President, The Club Secretary and three currently active Vice Presidents to consider and recommend nominations for Vice President to the Board.

That subcommittee will consider the nominations and if it thinks fit make recommendations to the Board for their approval and proposal to the AGM.

The Subcommittee may invite the nominator to the Subcommittee meeting to provide further information if they so wish.

Upon approval by the Board, the Club Secretary will contact the nominee(s) to seek their willingness to stand and likewise if the person is not willing to stand then the proposal to the AGM in respect of that person shall not be made.

NOTE:

1. The sub committees above and the Board are charged with ensuring that the positions of Honorary Life Member and Vice President are not in any way devalued.

2. In the case of Vice Presidents, in addition to "services to the club and/or to the game of rugby football", the likely future continuation as a volunteer and the need to secure such continued involvement in the club may also be considered.

3. It shall be the convention that in any one year the Vice President's Sub Committee shall select a maximum of two persons to be nominated by the Board to the AGM for election as Vice President. (In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to exceed two nominations and that decision shall be ratified at Annual General Meeting).

4. It is not the intention to appoint Honorary Life Members on an annual basis and if no nominations are forthcoming and/or those nominated are not recommended, then so be it.

5. The positions of Honorary Life Member and Vice President should be acknowledged by the Board from time to time by providing functions, benefits, apparel etc, e.g. Vice Presidents tie or scarf, exclusive to the position holders.

6. Save the Club Secretary, an Honorary Life Member or a currently active Vice
President shall not be eligible to sit on either of the above sub committees if they are a member of the Board at the time.
