In response, a small number of us decided to play monthly fund raising sponsored golf competitions to support charities chosen by his family plus some sort of memorial, maybe a tree, at his old club, Belton Park GC.

The plan being to culminate the fund raising with a golf day at the end of the year.

But not to be!
As Covid restrictions tightened, our planned date had to be postponed, postponed, and postponed again and we could only sit it out until Boris and chums unlocked the (clubhouse) doors.

This brought us to last Friday by which time the 'small number' of supporters had reached no less than a 100 and the modest target of £500 had reached £3500, allowing us to plant a small copse and make generous contributions to the charities chosen by Bish's family. Bish style - Newark RUFC style.

Likewise the Bish Golf Day held last week at BPGC was a huge success with the sun shining throughout and no less than 52 players enjoying all aspects from the pre-golf breakfast through to the post golf presentation.

The auction conducted by Charles Hine and team, which raised the impressive sum of £1350, being particularly entertaining .

Quite a long slog but a lot of fun all the same and many thanks to all involved.
