The annual Vets v Virgins fixture took place on Thursday (22/12/2016) evening.
The Pitch had been repaired by David Rhodes who has done a fantastic job in repairing our pitches after the recent vandalism.
The Young Virgins came out winners with a Last Minute Try from Billy Charles
Final score 19 - 12 to the Virgins
3 Tries to 2
Well Played ALL
Have a very Happy Christmas
(Hopefully more to be reported so keep viewing)
This eagerly awaited fixture featured no less than 5 dads playing their lads in a truely well supported game at Kelham Road with over 30 vets and 22 Virgins , who included 5 Newark 1st XV Players.
The vets had made an early decision to keep the ball and drive through the centre of the park and keep the ball close , this was met by a determined Virgins side which kept the Vets in its own 22 for much of the first 20 minute quater.
The second quater produced a concerted Vets effort up front to give the backs the opportunity to score, with both sides getting over the whitewash it set the match up for a grand finale which the Virgins saw through by a late match winning try by Billy Charles.
Overall a good day at Kelham Road with a full Club house enjoying some early Christmas spirit.
Thanks go to Andrew Russell Webster , Tommy Pykett and Tony Ward for officiating
