MULTI SPORT U6 (YR1 & Reception) HOME PAGE

This September, Newark Rugby Club’s popular Multi-Sports programme is expanding to include children in Reception and Year 1.

Multi-Sports is open to children aged 4 or 5 on 1 September 2026 and is all about helping young children become active, confident and enthusiastic about sport.

Through a wide variety of fun games and activities, children will develop:

*

  • Balance, agility and coordination
  • * Running, catching and movement skills
  • * Teamwork and confidence
  • * New friendships
  • * A lifelong enjoyment of being active

No previous sporting experience is needed—just plenty of energy and a willingness to join in!

An additional option for younger children

Families with children aged 3 or 4 on 1 September 2026 may also be interested in our brand-new Rugby Explorers programme.

Rugby Explorers provides a fun and welcoming first introduction to rugby and sport through games, movement and age-appropriate rugby activities.

  • Barnby Road School Sports Hall
  • Mondays during term time, starting 21 September 2026
  • ⏰ 4:30pm–5:15pm

The first Rugby Explorers session on Monday 21 September will be a free taster.

One pathway—with an important overlap

We have deliberately created an age overlap between the two programmes:

Multi-Sports: children aged 4 or 5 (Reception & Y1)
Rugby Explorers: children aged 3 or 4 (Pre-school & Reception)

This means children aged four can enjoy both experiences. Multi-Sports develops a broad range of movement, coordination and sporting skills, while Rugby Explorers provides an additional rugby-focused introduction.

Children can progress at a pace that is right for them while becoming familiar with the club, our coaches and other children.

Two programmes, lots of fun and one aim—helping young children get active, build confidence and develop a lifelong enjoyment of sport and rugby.

For further information about either programme, contact [post@newarkrugby.com](mailto:post@newarkrugby.com).
