Hinckley 41 Newark 0
A competitive first half was the positive aspect of Newark’s trip to level four Hinckley for a pre-season friendly against the Leicestershire club’s second team.
Newark turned round 10-0 down after a competitive half where the teams were scoreless after 20 minutes.
Hinckley extended their lead by scoring twice at the start of the second half before some good play should have brought Newark reward.
Substitute Will Britten and scrum-half Max Chapple both threatened to breakthrough while No 8 Dave Garland was held up over the line.
Three tries in the final quarter extended Hinckley’s lead before the ground was engulfed by heavy rain which disrupted the main friendly between the home team’s first team and Cinderford.
Newark continue their preparations for the new season next Saturday at home to Scunthorpe 2nds, kick off 3pm.
