The first team squad started their pre-season fixtures by drawing 12-12 a well contested match at home to Peterborough.
All the points came in the first half as the play featured some promising phases and attacks from both teams.
Both teams also defended aggressively. Most notably, a try-saving tackle from Noah Marshall who impressed both sides of the ball as did all of the Newark back-row.
Newark scored two tries through scrum-half Will Staniforth and centre Zak Draycott. George Leeson added a conversion.
The second half remained scoreless as both teams made changes and tried new combinations which meant neither side could execute to grab the winning score.
Newark’s pre-season games continue on Saturday 30 August when Stamford visit Kelham Road, kick off 3pm.
The League campaign begins a week later, 6 September, when West Bridgford are the visitors to Kelham Road, 3pm kick off.
