Loughborough 6 Newark 11
A try by former captain Ed Collishaw helped Newark grab a win at Loughborough after the two teams had been locked at 6-6 midway into the second half.
A break by scrum-half Matt Clark opened the way for substitute wing Collishaw to score a try on his seasonal debut.
It proved to be Newark’s only try of a frustrating afternoon when they had plenty of pressure but failed to put points on the board.
Besides Collishaw’s 58th-minute effort, the only points for Newark came from two penalty goals by fly half Danny Coen.
Coen had put Newark ahead in the sixth minute and then again in the 21st after Loughborough had levelled the scores at 3-3.
Loughborough equalised for the second time in the 55th minute only for Newark to quickly to put Collishaw in the clear.
A notable day for the Coen family featured all three brothers – Dan, Chris and Tom – appear in the senior team together for the first time.
Victory for Newark keeps them in sixth place having won three from five games this season.
Next up are Ilkeston on Saturday, at Kelham Road, kick off 3pm.
